Verdi Rountree Lethermon, Ph. D.
Dr. Verdi Rountree Lethermon is nationally known for her dynamic public speaking and Bible teaching. Her lectures, retreats, seminars and workshops have touched thousands of lives. Her message of hope, healing and empowerment crosses age, cultural, economic and gender barriers as she passionately seeks to bridge the chasm between psychology and spirituality. Whether one-on-one or standing before hundreds, she intimately and personally connects with her audience from a place of authenticity and vulnerability. She has frequently appeared on local Houston radio, webcasts, and television shows and has been interviewed by several local and national newspapers.
When God Speaks
In the summer of 2010, Dr. Verdi published her first and life-changing book, "When God Speaks, People Who Hear are Healed." Millions of people are hurting emotionally and need healing. Pain respects no one! Everyone from addicts to well-known celebrities often endure emotional pain silently. All too often they look for "healing" in all the wrong places-addictions, money, power, prestige, relationships, and sex. However, God is the only answer. Her book boldly answers the question. "Does God still speak to us today?" "When God Speaks" was written for adults to bridge the gap between God speaking and people hearing (and listening), to awaken, or reawaken, a desire to intentionally and consistently seek to hear from God. This book inspires and equips the reader to diligently seek, and to privately hear from, God with bold confidence and bold results.
If God Wanted to Talk to You, Would You Listen
In the spring of 2014, her second book, "If God Wanted to Talk to You, Would you Listen?" was published. This book is written for children 5-12 years of age and points them to the loving God who wants to have intimate conversations with them as they face life's challenges. As a child, the greatest lesson that I learned was that God loved me. That lesson and God's love have sustained me through some of the darkest and most painful challenges of my life. Today, children face many frightening and painful experiences and are often left with many unanswered questions. "If God Wanted to Talk to You" seeks to plant a spiritual seed within children that God loves them and wants to talk to them through the "ears of their heart." The adults that love them are challenged to nurture that spiritual seed (and perhaps, learn with them).
"Surrender or Explode"
Published in the winter of 2022, her third book, "Surrender or Explode: Learning to Play the Game of Life God's Way," is nestled between the other two books and speaks directly to youth, young adults, and the adults who directly impact and influence their lives. "Surrender or Explode" compares Life to a video game and walks readers from Level I (Beginners) to Level V (Leaderboard). Readers are challenged to answer four critical questions: 1) Who are You? 2) Who is God? 3) Is God your Boss? and 4) What unanswered questions do you have that only God can answer? Many of the current questions that our youth face today, are complicated, sensitive, and difficult to address. Too often, young people are embarrassed, fearful, and too intimidated to boldly ask the questions. Similarly, the answers they receive are too often "one size fits all," leaving many of our youth searching for personal answers that the "culture" is eager to answer. Cultural answers very often contradict God. "Surrender or Explode" offers a step-by-step blueprint and answers to these questions from God's loving, gracious, and nonjudgmental perspective.
